VISIT TO MURCHISON.

• The Hon W. D. S. Macdonald, Minister for Public Works, accompanied by Mrs Macdonald, Mr H. Atmoro, M.P. for Nelson, and Mr F. G. Matthows, private secretary, motored through to Murchison on Thursday. En route a stop was made at Glenhope, where the Minister was shown over the works by Mr Hall-Jones, the engineer in chargo. The station buildings are now in course of construction, and when oompletod will be more pretentious than tliose at Nolson, a fact which Mr Atmoro did not fail to point out to the Minister.

Mr Macdonald expressed his satisfaction at the way in which tho work waa going on, and stated that ho had given instructions that the number of men employed was to bo increased, by 50, bringing tho total up to 250.

Tho work of pushing on the lino beyond Glenhope is in progress in all its branches; from the buildings in the yard to the trial survey extending beyond Ricketts' (formerly Wise's), on the Duller road, where it is proposed to have a station. The actual work of formation beyond Glonhope is proceeding apace, and a quantity of bush along tho proposed route has been fallen, while tho fil*flt of a number of very substantial culverts has been commenced. The whole of the works present a very animated scene for a mile or two beyond Glenhope vtlie roadsido being dotted with tho white canvas tents of the workers and their families.
