London, May 7. lii the blackmail case no witnesses wore called for the defence.
Counsol for the defence contendou that the Countess instigated O'Connor's writing of the anonymous letters. Not only had O'connor the baseness to write- the-m, but he also had, the mendacity to deny writing them, lac then left the country.
Pago and Glendinning were se-ntenced
to twelve months' hard labour.
