A Press wire states that the Hon. A. Myers. Minister for Railways, left Wellington last night for the South. He* will visit Christchurch, Tiraaru, Dunedin, Invercargill, and other towns on departmental work. The- Hon. J. Coiviii has gone to the Thames to represent thoCTOvernment at the funeral of tho late Hon. J. McGovvan.

Another of the fast diminishing band ot those who camei to Nelson in the first year oftt o settlement, has passed away in the person of Mr. William Inwood, of Motueka, who died on Saturday last at the ago of 82. Mr. Inwood came to Nelson as a lad, with his parents, in 1842, by tho ship Lloyds. Within a few years he removed to the Motueka district, where ho has resided ever since. He followed his. occupation as a bootmaker for some years, and then went on the land. He leaves a widow, eight eons, four daughters, some forty grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

The Rev. Thos. Wagstaff died at hfason's resideno, the Wood, Ne.son, yesterday -afternoon in his 89th year. Though not extensively known in the Nelson province, he \va s well known in. Canterbury as the oldest active miniß* ter in tho Baptist denomination. For over twenty, years he had charge of the Baptist Church at East Oxford from which he retired at the age of 84 years. Since then, and as recently ,as a few weeks ago lie was able to take services in the Nelson and Richmond Baptist Churches. Nearly seventy years ago he was connected with the London Sailors' Missionary Society, and has been preaching regularly ever since.
