FOOTBALL.
NELSON RUGBY UNION
A meeting ■• of tire Management Committee- of the. above Union was ■.held last night at Stallard's room. Mr. R. W. Stiles (president) was in tho chair,, and the following delegates wore* also present, Messrs. Baigcnt; Dickson, Shrimpton,'Topliss, and the secretary. A letter was received from Mr. J. B. Sadd, who has bee.n connected with the Union for very many years, acknowledging his re-election as a vice-president. • A "etter was also received from the Bush Union, Pahiatua, offering 50 per cent of the gate, in the event of a team from here visiting their district.
In view of the many applications from schools for footballs, it was res-olv-f-d to ask the New Zealand Union for an increased grant for the purpose of providing thorn.
A report from the Permit Committee was received, and ft was resolved to adopt tho suggestions therein with reference to the classification of players.
It was resolved that Chib receipt blocks for players' subscriptions must ne lodged with the secretary bj June 3rd.
Mr Shrimpton notified the- Union that lie would'be unable to attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union. Mr Shrimpton has represented the Nelson Union for come years, and general regret was expressed'at his inability to act ss delegate, this year. ■■..,• 'Referees for Saturday's games were* appointed by the Refertt's' As-sociation s.i follows:
