Wellington, May 7. The following is the. Her D. C. Bates' weather forecast and summary from 5 p.m. to-day • —
Moderate to strong south-easterly winds have prevailed with cold and changeable weather, and ahoAvery at times in the northernmost districts. Tho barometer is still high everywhere. Tho present indications are for easterly winds^to jralo- northward of East Ca-p«j nnd Kawhia, south-easterlies increasing thence to Kaikoura and Farewell Spit, and moderate to strong soiithe.xlfes oiKowliere. Unsettled and stormy weath<?r is probable in the North Island shortly, with heavy rain in the northern districts, and rain probably following over tho North Island. Cold'and changeable weather- probable in tho south. Tho barometer has a falling tendency everywhere, especially in the north.
