THE MOTHER'S LOVE.
Lord MacauUy, writing of his mothoi-, says:—"Young people, look in those eyes, listen to that dear voieo, and notice the feeling of even a touch that is bestowed upon you by that gentle hand. Make much of it whib yet you have that most precious of all good gifts, a'loving mother. Read the unfathomable love of those eyes.; the kind anxiety of that tone and look, however slight your pain. In after life you mi\y have friends, fond, dear, kind friends;, 'but never will you have agr.in tho inexpressible. love and gentleness lavhhod upon you which none but a mother bestows. Often do I oigh in my -struggles with th© hard, uncaring world, for tho deep, sweet security I feel when o-f an evening, resting in her bosom, I listened to some quiet tale, suitable to my age, read in her tsnd-er, untiring voico. Never can I forget her sweet glnr.ee;-; cast upon mo when I appeared ar,l.-.?o ; never her kiss of peace fit '.night. Years have passed since wo laid her beside my father in the cold churchyard, yet still her voice whispers from the grave, and her ,-eyes watch -over me ~3 i visit spots long.since -hallowed;'.by boy •memory;-' .
