IMPORTANT EXPERIMENT.

The British Board of Agriculture ha:--tstitered upon an e xperiment in regard to abortion in catt'e which will be .watchec: with, great interest by agriculturists generally. The board-has placed tlu' County of Devon under a sort- of embargo in regard to aborting cows. If it be contagious the owner will not bt ble to move the cow f«~----u period of throe months, except under license^ Meantime, all litter of other materials that have i>een in contact with the affected subject will have to bo hurried, and both the cow and the premises disinfected. The new departure is evidently the outcome of the r<>port of the committee which sat and considered this subject two or three years ago. The fact that the embargo has b-en conlined to one county 'so far is an indication that it is somewhat ,oi an experiment, which, howevor, may h<extended should .success at the first centre justify such.
