TRAINING NEW ZEALAND LADS

The annual conference of the Canterbury branches of the Navy, League wero held here to-day, Professor Blunt presiding. The chief discussion centred round a proposal by the Timaru branch that H.M.S. Dart, now lying in Sydney harbour,- and for sale by the. Admiralty, should bo purchased as a training ship for New Zealand boys. The scheme is considered too big for the League to undertake.
A motion was passed that a sub-com-mittee gather information on the subject of extending the prescmt system of sea training for Nvw Zealand boys, with a view to urging tho Government to enlarge] thci accommodation providied by tho training ship Amokura. Mr. J. Craigie, M.P., wiil bo asked to bring the matter before the House.
