Tho annual Mormon convention began at Awapui, a, mil© from Palmerston North, yesterday. About 50U Maori members ar<> already assembled, with I'iistor Romnoy, president, and 57 American elders from _ Salt Lake City, as well as Maori ministers. The members are gathered from all parts ot New Zealand.

Tho-Hon To Rangihiroa, Dr. Buck, M.P., will visit the meeting to-morrow.

The assembly will proceed to vote on the election of a president to the Mormon church, two councillors and twelve elders at Salt Lako, City simultaneously with similar conventions in all parts of the world. The Maori adherents number 6,000, and the Mormons are establishing an agricultural college at a cost of £10,000.
