PROSPECTING IN PAPUA.
PARTY
ATTACKED BY NATIVES
AN ASSAILANT KILLED.

From Port Moresby, Mr Frank Pryke, leader of the Government prospecting expedition at Papua, reports boing treacherously attacked by natives on tho Vailala River. Mr Pryke received an arrow in the body. He replied with rifle fire, killing one native. Tho others fled.
