In every- instance the teachers testified to the high esteem in which they held the inspector, and said the faults were due to a desire to get through too much work in tho- time at his disposal. The chairman stated that a number or teachers had volunteered to give ovidenco in Mr Stewart's favour, but he d;d not consider it necessary to call them. Mr. Stewart made a short sper.-jh in defence of hi? actions and admitted that he might have- been impatient owing to a desire to get through the work quickly.
