Wong Chuck, a Chinese laundryman, was charged at tho Police Court with tho attempted murder of his wife- by attacking her with a knife. Mrs Chuck gave evidence, and said she was drunk and thought her husband was going to beat her. because ho found another Chinese man in her house. Sho seized a knife which her husband took from her. Her thumb was cut in tho struggle. The charge was reduced to one of common assault. Acduscd pleaded guilty, and was bound over in a bond of £50, to keep the peace for twelve months.
