RARATONGAN NATIVE SENTENCED.

At Raratonga on March 4th, Noongo a native of Mangaia, was sentenced to three years' for man-slaughter arising out of a charge of murdering hi^, wife on December 3rd. The jury expressed the opinion that the case was the outcome of beer-drinking, and aske<l the authorities to take strong measures for. the prevention of the brewing and drinking of this beverage and the resulting drunkenness.
