Unless tho coal miners and operators agree, the closing of works involving half a million of men has been arranged for Monday.
The miners' agreement expires cm Monday, and tho men refuse to resume on tho old scale of wages. If the closing down occurs the men will lose a million dollars daily in wages-.
Prospects of a settlement are poor
