WELLINGTON FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET.

MOTUEKA SHIPMENTS CRITICISED

(Special to "Tho Colonist.")

Wellington, March 29.

Messrs. Thompson Bros., Ltd. report on the>' Wellington fruit and produce market as follows :—

During the past week fairly heavy consignments of fruit and vegetables havo arrived from the various districts, and values, generally speaking, are on a par with last week's rates. The weather conditions appear now more favourable, and improved values may certainly bo expected for all lines. Again this week no grapes came forward, and values for local fruit aro advanced. Adelaide grown are due to-day and will linda ready reception, with 15s 6d to 18s possible for 301b boxes. Both Fiji and Raratonga shipments aro due hero to-day and to-morrow respectively, with only small shipments iwssible. It is to bo regretted that considerable quantities of small and poor quality apples and pears aro com- I ing forward just now, both from Christchurch and, the Motueka districts, which has -a depreciating effect on the batter class fruits.
