A violent earthquake occurred in the department of Corroßzo. A fissure- fivo yards wido opened on a, hillsido overlooking tins village of St Solve-, and the railway station was strewn with rocks.
Furniture was overturned in the houses, and tho occupants spent tho night out of doors, despite drenching
