The Government's request to the Railway Commissioner for an eight hour day was met with a point blank refusal. Tho Cabinet discussed the position without coming to a definite decision.

Mr Trefle, in an interview regarding the -railway management, said tho Government was determined to see its instructions carried out. If the Commissioner sets up any barrier to reform, the Govern ment will remove him.
