PRESS TRIBUTES.

(Received Jan 31, 0.15 a.m.) London, Jan 30. The newspapers pay a tribute to the Duke of Fife's unbending loyalty, probity towards his tenants, and deep religious convictions. Ho was a devoted husband and father.

Alexander William George Duft, Marquis of MacdufF, K.T., P. 0., first Duke of Fife, was born on November 10th 1849, and succeeded his lather as sixth Earl of Fife in 1379. Ho was created Duke of Fife in 18,9, on his marriage with H.R.H. Princess Louiso, thfl oldest daughter of the late Kin>' Edward VII. He was ouq ot the founders, and for nine years vice-pre-sident of the Chartered Company of South Africa, and lie was M.I. tor Moray and Nairn in 1874-79. His heir, by special remainder, is his daughter, the Princess Alexander Victoria Alberta. Kdwiua Louise.
