THE MURCHISON HACKS. \ (From Our Own Correspondent.) (From "The Colonist," Jan. 2,) The Muichison Racing Club held i its animal meeting at.. Longford on - as largo as usual, owing to the un- { settled weather. The sport, never- J theless, was roai'.ly good,' most of the ( finishes being close. The < Hack Handicap fell to Mr Warne's ( Trepentauri, by Ugly Dux—Tredore. ( The horse ran well, and under tho ( whip came up in the last few strides, 1 passing Mi'dred on tho post. A pro- .. test,' however, was entered against 1 the winner that tho rider had noli- 1 cense. The matter will bo settled at a special meeting of s the stewards. Edna also fell, but Sutherland and the mare were hot hurt.
