SPORTS AT WAKEFIELD.

The annual sports meeting of the Wa.imea Smith Athletic Association was held at the Recreation Ground, Wakefield, in the presence of about 1300 spectators. Although the fields in the various events were not largo, most of the finishes were closely contested. The Richmond Brass Band. which was in attendance, enlivened the proceedings with selections throughout the day. The officials worked hard to ensure the success of the gathering, ami the events were got off promptly to time. Rain held off until just before the last three events, when it came down heavily, driving the spectators to shelter. The results were:— 100 Yards Handicap Run (cash). — Ist heat: 0. Mead, Byds, 1; M.
