WEATHER FORECAST.
Wellington, Jan. 16. Th© following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' weather forecast and summary : — Tho barometer has fallen everywhere, but is unsteady in tho south to-day; warm and hnzy weather has prevailed, with increasing cloudiness, ivvt unsettled and showery conditions have ruled 311 tlic West Coast of tlw South Island, and rain is reported there this evening. Strong westerly and northerly winds have predominated, and Rales were experienced in and southwards of Cook Strait last night. Forecast: Present indications arc for a further fall in the barometer, with, squally : northerly and westerh winds, generally; strong to galo ii: parts; unsettled and cloudy" weathei with vain is probable'in most parts, an-1 heavy rain with rivers rising on tho West Coast of the South Island, for a storm area appears to be approaching from tho westward.
