FIRST BALLOT RESULTS
SOCIALIST GAINS

At the Reichstag elections (first ballots) the Conservatives secured 35 seats, the Contro B's, the Social Democrats 66, and the National Liberals 6.
In all 189 second ballots will be hold, and the Socialists are interested in 117 and the Radicals in 53.
The Socialists hope to win 40, and claim to have gained 57,000 votes in Berlin, with an increased vote in the provinces of 32 per cent. The Socialists' successes are largely at the expense of the Radicals and National Liberals. Much depends on tho bargains for mutual support in the second ballots.
The Catholic (Centre) Party are unshaken at present.

ISH LABOUR
London, Jan 14. Mr Ramsay Mac Donald, chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party, has telegraphed to the German Social Democrats congratulating them on behalf of the party on the good news to all friends of international solidarity and peace.
