RACE-HORSE BREAKS TS LEG.

Ctoistchurch, Jan. 15.

Last week an unfortunate accident befell Pearl DOr, tbo well known thoroughbred owned by Mr. G. D. Greenwood. PeaJ DOr and two other racehorses were sent from Christcburch to their owner's run Teviotda.e at Amberlcy, for a spell. On being liberated Pearl DOr immediately galloped away from the flat, and up a hill. Mr. G. 0. Greenwood on going to see if the horses had settled down, found the mare lame, and on examination found that the fetlock joint was broken. A veterinary surgeon, who was sent for at once, put the injured limb in plaster of Pam. The racing career of Pearl DOr is now ended, but should the joint mend she will bo used for stud purposes. The mar.? was one of Mr. Greenwood's purchases at the sale of the late Mr. G. G. Stead's horses, and cost the purchaser £2,000.
