THE PREMIER IN TARANAKI.

Hawera, Nov. 27. The Premier and party visited South Taranaki this morning, arriving in Normanby by the mail train from New Plymouth. Sir Joseph delivered an address there to a largely attended meeting of settlers, and wns accorded a vote of thanks and confidence. The party afterwards came

on to Hawcra and visited tho District High School and convent schools. The Premier later addressed a crowded meeting in the Opera House. Sir Joseph, who spoke for over two hours, received a cordial reception, and was frequently app.auded. He defended tho Government's administration, especially its finance, laud, railways, and defence policy, and also its connection with the Mokau estate. At tho conclusion of the address a resolution of thanks and confidence in Sir Joseph AVard's Party was carried by acclamation, cheers being accorded the Promier. The .Ministerial party left by the afternoon train for Stratford.
