On Saturday afternoon at the botanical Reserve members ot the .<;«« l fire brigade held a series ot conijK'titions for trophies by several cities. There was a good attendance or -.lie public and some very creditable peiformances wero put up. Iho results were as follows:— Five men event: Foreman Bennett, Firemen Brown, Harris, Bright, Lieut. Foreman Bennett won tho aggregate with 24 points (-1 first, 1 second, and a third), and won the gold mock! presented by Mr. Moycs. Captain Woodward and Mr. T. Dee acted as judges, Messrs. F, Harford and A. 0. Shrimpton as timekeepers; and Secretary Hounsoll as starter.
