MR McCULLAGH'S STATEMENT

MURDER—NOT WAR

London, Nov 22

In the Memorial Hall several Italians interrupted a lecture by Mr McCuilagh, war correspondent, on Italian atrocities at Tripoli. Mr McCullugh slated that tlio .Italian reinforcements wero passing a factory behind which was a village inhabited e-xclu-si\ely by mill workers, when two shots r.oi'o fired, and a soldier was reported to have been wounded. He (Mr McCullngli) could never find the soldier, but owing to those two shots 4000 persons, were killed. There was no other cause for the slaughter. He sv.v bedridden women and little boys shot. It whs murder, not war. The Arabs wore killed on the ilimsiest pretext, and they were murdered because knives, razors and empty cartridge cases were found in their dwellings.

Lieutenant Ivaco, an Italian officer, here replied that 324 soldiers were irer.rherously killed, and those who killed thorn wero murderers, and were treated as such.

The mooting decided to urge tho Government to inquire into tho alleged viobtiou of the rubs of war, and make representations to Italy.
