Mr. R. Fletcher, chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, announced at a meeting of the Board to-night that it had raised a loan of £50,000 in Wellington at 4 per cent interest at par, with the right to take from £1,000 to £8,000 per month as required. The Board's financial position enabled reductions in port charges to be made as follows: Harbour improvement rate 2d per ton, inward wharfage on general goods 2d per ton, concessions with regard to manures and phosphates 8d per ton.
