MRS ALFRED GREENFIELD.

The death occurred yesterday morning at her residence, Hardy street, of Mrs Greenfield, wife of Mr Alfred Greenfield, ex-Resident Magistrate at Nelson and Palmerston North, after a prolonged illness. Deceased was the daughter of Mr Edmund Knyvett, who with his family arrived at Nelson by the Berkshire m 1850. Mrs Greenfield, who was 79 years of ago, was well known in musical circles in her younger days, and frequently appeared on the concert platform as a solo pianiste. Her kindly nature endeared her to a wide circle^ of friends, who will feel for the family in their bereavement. Mrs Greenfield is survived by her husband and two sons and two daughters, viz., Mr J. E. Greenfield, chief draughtsman in the Nelson Survey Office; Mr A. K. Greenfield, iand 4 agent, of. Gisborne ; Mrs TCidtl. of Kiwitea, and Miss Bes r sic Greenfield.
