SPORTS PROTECTION LEAGUE.

[United Press Association.]

Auckland, Nov. 13. A manifesto issued by the Auckland Ministers' Association dealing with the objects of the New Zealand Sports Protection League was read in all Protestant churches on Sunday. The manifesto states that the League was fighting for the restitution of the bookmaker, the extension ol: the curse of the totalisutor and betting, and the multiplication of racing days. It was stated that the promoters would go even further, and extend the tote permits to coursing matches, and football, cricket, hockey, golf and other amateur sports might easily follow in the extension. The manifesto appeals to church people to vote only for the Parliamentary candidates who gave definite answers on the subjects of the abolition of betting and gambling, maintaining Sunday as a day of rest, and the prohibition of prize fights.
