VIR MACMAHON'S CANDIDATURE

Mr. G. Macmahon addressed. 2G electors at the Appleby Sunday School on Friday evening, Mr. P. 13est in die chair. The candidate spoke of die misrepraseiitations of the Opposition, and showed that the borrowing policy of the Government had been i:or the benefit of the Dominion. Ho referred to the measures tha^; had oecn passed-by the Lib,eraJ Party, .uid in regard to the Legislative Council suggested that three-fifths of die members should bo appointed by che Government and two-tilths by the Opposition. Referring to the extension of the railway, Mr. Mapmahon said if the Opposition were returned the people need not expect it to go any further, as the Opposition had very little sympathy with this district—this had been proved in the past by their gtatements. On the motion of Messrs. D. O'Connell and J. Newport, the candidate was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr. Macmahon' will address the alectors at Clifton Terrace to-morrow evening and at Itichmond on Thursday evening.
