NELSON KENNEL CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The adjourned annual meeting of the Nelson Kenel Club was held at the Chamber of Commerce room last evening, Mr. S. C. Crisp in the chair. It was resolved that the silver cup given by Dr. Andrew for Irish setter be retained by Mr. Simmons, the winner, it not being a challenge cup. There was some discussion with regard to show benches for the breeds of smaller dogs, and it was resolved that the secretary make enquiries as to the freight charges additional to the hire charges of the Wellington Club for one hundred benches. jThe secretary of the New Zealand Cocker Spaniel Club advised that a cash prize of one guinea had been allotted to the Nelson show for the best

cocker in the show, dog or bitch, any colour, open only to members of the New Zealand Cocker Spaniel Club. It was resolved to accept the offer with thanks.

The secretary of the New Zealand Kennel Club advised that the Nelson

Club had been granted a date for its show immediately following the Marlborough date, which would be at the end of August. It was also advised that the following challenge classes had been allotted to; Nelson : —Scottish terriers, Skye terriers, bull terriers, and Airedale terriers, separate certificates for dog and bitch. The Marlborough Club advised that its show would be held on August Sfcth and 30th. , The treasurer's statement of accounts showed a credit balance of £5 odd. The membership was stated to be 102, which was considered very satisfactory. - The balance sheet was adopted, and a hearty vote of thanks accorded Mr. W. S. Milner, the lion, treasurer. Officers were appointed as follows: — Patron, Mr. S. Kirkpatrick; P. esident, Dr. Wright ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs Hanby, P. B. Adams, R. S. Booth, A. H. Bisley, Dr. Andrew, Crisp, and W. Rogers; Hon. Solicitor, Mr. W. S. Milner; Hon. Treasurer, Mr H. F. West; Hon. Auditor, Mr R. Catley; Hon. Veterinary Surgeon, Mr West. The appointment of a hon. secretary was held over for the time being, Mr. West being unable to continue in office. The new appointment was left in the hands of a small sub-committee. The following were appointed as committee:—Messrs Leckie, H. B. Walker, Desgranges, Galbraith, Ward, Wells, A. G. Betts, T. Louisson, G. Elliott, Morling, and T. Hargreaves. Mr West stated that a number of trophies had been offered as special trophies, and it was likely that others would follow. It was reported that two trophies offered last year had been won, but one was not forthcoming, and the; other had not been applied for. Mention was made of the fact that Dr. Wright had lost one of his best dogs, and great regret was expressed at the heavy loss of this popular fancier. It was resolved that aone day show be held on Saturday, 2nd September. It was resolved to hold a ladies' night on a date to be fixed later. A vote of thanks to the Press and the usual vote to the chair closed the; proceedings.
