i Auckland, June 10. A torrential downpour of rain this morning flooded Queen street. The water flowed over the kerbs up to the building line, and many cellars wero flooded, some four feet deep. A good deal of damage was done to goods stored below the street level in the various shops. Nearly all the hotels and restaurants in the lower part of the. city suffered severely. In numerous instances the fires were extinguished. Cooks wore working knee deep in water in various places, including half a dozen of the lending hotels, while preparing the mid-day meal.
