(Received May 18, 1 a.m.) Melbourne, May 17. Tenders received by the Defence Department for 1800 sets of miltary liarness average £2 a set over last year's tenders, and £5 over the English tenders.
Tho Acting-Minister of Defence says he desires to assist local industries, but lie would not he doing his duty if he allowed manufacturers to insist upon such an advance.
