Dunedin, May 15. At the Supreme Court to-day Arthur Robert Chas Cant, who pleaded guilty to tho'theft of £109 from the Union Steam Ship Company, was admitted to probation for two years on condition that he paid £8 to covr the cost of the prosecution. An order was made for the payment of £16 4s 7d found on accused to tho Union Company. Robert \ Toung pleaded not guilty to a charge of committing perjury at Oamaru on February 11th. when charged with committing an indecent act dn the street. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.

Annie Margaret McKay, aged 17 years, was brought up for sentence on a charge of theft from a oostal packet, from which she extracted a bangle. Charles Edward McKay aged 19 years, was brought up for sentence en a charge of opening the postal packet. lie Saw the registered packet in the post Office, opened, it, and tied it up junin without taking anything. The father of both accused was a ganger at Hillgrove, and he kept the post office. The male accused was fined £5, and was ordered to be kept in custody until the fine is paid, the term riot to exbeetl two months. The girl was ordered to comet up for sentence when called on. .. ,
