A FATAL FALL.

Christchurch, May 2. At the inquest on S. F. Tait evidence showed that deceased wanted to go out of the hotel alter it was closed for the purpose of getting supper. Ho declined the landlady's offer of bread and cheese. It is assumed that ho essayed to get off the promises by means of the fire escape, and being near sighted missed his footing and fell into the yard below. He was apparently sober at the time. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
