Paris, April 30.
A Russian Count named Ostrovsky, alias Count Crankoff, a card sharper and international hotel thief, has been arrested in the Riviera. His biggest haul was £5000 worth of jewellery at Berlin, for which crime he suffered a long imprisonment.

The capture at Calcutta of the socalled Baron yon Kooniz, head of an international gang of card sharpers, led to tho request for extradition. The real name of the criminal is Stallum. His dupes, or alleged accomplices, included Count Giesbert Wolif-Metter-nich, now under arrest.
