All the acceptors | started in the Doncaster. There was a long delay at the post, but from a | good start Grist and Torula were the | hrst to show out. After settling in i their places Grist and Broadsword took charge from Miss Corelli, with Simlike, Lager and the others in a heay. i At%.six furlong post Broadsword and Grist still showed the way, Sir Lawrence being next. A little further ion Lager dashed out and led at the j half mile two lengths clear of Gold | I bread, Broadsword and Bright Lad- : die. Hounding the bend Lager was a , length clear of Gold Thread, BroadI sword, Royal Merv, Corelli and Bright j Laddie. Lager was first into "the I straight. Below the distance Gold j Thread and Bright Laddie showed | most prominently from Broadsword | Corelli and Flavim'us. At the half j distance Broadsword came again with Sunlike, and after a desperate race, won by three quarters of a length. Flavinius half a length off; then Corelli, Bright Laddie, Gold Thread and lloyal Merv; time 1.38}. Leger: Cadonia 1, Naiigar 2, Aurofodin 3. Nine starters. Nagar went to the front with Aurofodin as his near est attendant, and led the Held along the back into the straight. Broadsword's time in the Doncaster , was a record, beating the previous best of Storey and Hyman by a quarter of a second.
