WAKEFIELD. (From Our Owa Correspondent.) Welcome rain has been falling all day and is still falling. ! Owing to £he rain the anniversary tea and meeting in connection with the Wai-iti Wesleyan Church, which should have taken place on Friday last, lias been postponed until next Thursday evening. It is intended tcmake Thursday's meeting a welcome to Mr Batty, who is helping the Rev C. Eaton. Mr Batty will be located in

Wakt'iield for some time, and possibly permanently. The annual meeting of members of St John's Church will be held in the Sunday school room on the 27th hist. . The chief business will be the election or church officers and to hear the annual report. There will be a social during the evening. Mr Telenius is having a two storey building erected, adjoining his store. The new building, which will greatly add to the appearance of that part of the township, will be a combined store and dwelling house. A meeting of members of tho Institute and library is called for Tuesday evening, when sites will be discussed. The Bowling Club are getting on with the formation of their green. Our roads, which have been very rough of late, are now in first clasß order.
