THE FRENCH RAILWAY STRIKES.
STRIKE OF MARSEILLES NAVVIES. (Received April 16, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, April 15. The Chamber of Deputies, by a larg< majority, voted confidence in tho Go vernment's declaration that it woulc adopt measures to influence the rail way companies to reinstate strikers M. Morris declared that the Govern ment did not possess a weapon of com pulsion except public opinion. If it! efforts proved unavailing it would as! the Chamber to supply power. Five hundred navvies are on striki at the canal works at Marseilles, li a conflict with the police 12 police anc many strikers were- injured.
