THE DAY LABOUR SYSTEM.
Sydney, April 15. When turning the first sod of the waterworks at Broken Hill, Mr Griffith, Secretary for Public Works, appealed to the men to show carping critics whati it was possible to do with the day labour system. He assured the people that there would be no "Gov-| eminent stroke." He would not interfere with the engineer regarding dismissals.
