TRADES AND LABOUR FEDERATION.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF COUNCILS. [United Press Association ] Wellington, April 15. The annual conference in connection with the Trades and Labour Councils was opened to-day, when Mr. J. Reardon, of Wellington, was elected as president, and Mr. J. Young, of Christchurch, as secretary. It was stated that a presentation of an illuminated address to Mr. Tregear and a. purse of sovereigns to Mrs. Tregear, would take place on Thursday, It was stated that the efforts to effect an amalgamation with the Miners' Federation had been unsuccessful.
