Madame Mary Conley, tho Victorian soprano, met with a success in the production of "The Messiah," by tho Royal Choral Society at the Albert Hall, says a London cable. Mr. Mathieson, evangelist, Church of Christ, Vivian street, Wellington, has been staying in a Nelson private hospital for some time. He was operated upon last week for appendicitis, and is making very favourable progress towards recovery. Mr. Vcrco, evangelist, Melbourne, has boon appointed preacher for the Nelson Church of Christ, and it is expected that ho will commence liis ministry here early next month. A press wire from Auckland states that the Hon. Jamtos Carroll received a cablegram on Saturday from Sir J. G. Ward, from Montreal. The party were all well. They were given a civic reception on the morning of their arrival. A London cable message reports that Miss Ola Humphreys, the actress, has married Prince Ibrahim Hassan, a cousin of the Khedive. A London cable states that Lord Haldanc has been appointed a member of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in succession to Lord James of Hereford, resigned. Lord Haldane is thus entitled to adjudicate in legal cases in the House of Lords.
