Tho H Battery, N.Z.F.A., is holding a social gathering of its members, this evening, in tho Masonic Hall, to celebrate the success of its service practice, held at Brightwater. on the ,11th inst. Old members of the corps are cordially invited to be present.

New yards for the Association of Auctioneers are now being erected at Murchison. There, will be a yarding capacity of 4000 to 5000 sheep and 400 to 500 cattle, and should be one of the most complete stock yards in the province. At a sitting of the S.M. Court at Brightwater. last week, before Mr. J. S. Evans, S.M., judgment for plaintiff by default, was given in the following cases :A. J. Palmer and Sons v Richard Kerr, claim for £12 12s Bd, with costs £1 19s; 'same v. J. Fenemore, claim for £7 Is 2d, with costs 10s; Hodgson and Son (Mr. Moore) v. T. Hogan,V.aim for £7 17s 9d, with costs £1 6s Gd; same v. W. H. C. Williamson, claim for £2 10s 6d ,costs 12s. In the cases of the Inspector of Noxious Weeds against Stephen Smith ond William Anglesey, both defendants were fined 40s and costs 7s. Police v. Ernest Reid for failure to pay maintenance moneys, was further adjourned until next Court day, to cuable the defendant and his witness to be in attendance.

The amnual convention of the Wellington Sunday School Union is to Lo held this year in Nelson, during Easter.
