SHOOTING AT THREE MEN,

ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL

Napier, March 20.

At the Magistrate's Court this morning a young man named J. Young Hannay, charged with having fired a shot gun at three others-Robt Colquohouan, John Miller and Fred Johnson —was committed for trial in the Supremo Court, bail being allowed. The evidence, showed that a quarrel took place in one of the maim streets on the evening of tho 13th inst, and that tha three prosecutors afterwards followed tho accused to his home for the purpose, they stated, of demanding an apology. The accused went into his house, brought out a shot gun, and discharged both barrels at the three, who were then in full retreat, thinking that Hannay had brought some friends to his assistance. Colquhoun was struck by two of the pelltrt-Sj but only slightly injured. Hannay says he merely fired to scare tho others, and when he tnought they were at a safe distance.
