POLO TOURNAMENT.

THE CUP RACE DELAYED FIVE

HOURS

Cisborne, March 12. The New Zealand Polo Association's annual tournament was brought to a termination on Saturday. It was a most successful sports gathering and running for the Polo Cup, which was won by It. Reynold's Fashion Plato; W. McKenzie's Vivien, 2; It. K. Murphy's Lady Betty, 3. In regard to the running of the Cup race, a peculiar position arose. Tho race was timed to start at noon, and at that time only a small assemblage of thirty or forty people bad gathered at tire Park racecourse. The race was about to commence, when a mounted constable appeared on the scene and informed those present that they could not hold the race, as no permit had been obtained. The disappointed "sports" trooped to town, and after a series of telegrams to Wellington a permit was finally obtained. The raco was run at 5 o'clock.
