THE PAPAL DECREE,
POLITICAL EFFECT IN IRELAND

The Rev J. O. Hannay, better known as George Birmingham, lecturing before the Sinn Fein at Dublin, said that the Papal mixed marriages decree had enormously increased the dread of Home Rule amongst Irish Protestants. It was a weapon likely to be used effectively among English Nonconformist politicians.
