DAMAGED WOOL.

(Special to "The Colonist,")

Christchuroh, March 10. The Canterbury Frozen Moat Company have issued the following circular to sheep owners: —"We have to draw our clients' attention to the increase in the number of skins coming forward showing serious damage from dipping. This defect has come under our notice lately to a much greater extent tiian usual, owing to a larger percentage of the skins treated so far this season being affected. We- are of opinion that this matter can be easily remedied by proper precautions being taken at dipping time, particularly by attention being paid to mixing the dip oaref Jlly and keeping it stirred. No particular make of clip is responsible for tne damage caused, which, in most instances, seems to be the result of too strong a solution coming in contact with the wool. As wool so damaged is worth probably two pence per pound less, it is to the advantage of all co.ioeriiod that every care should be taken to arrest a continuation of similar lots in future." The. manager of one ol the woollen companies says that s'wie of the wool is so badly damaged "oy din that it will not take dye.
