Mr. 11. W. Stiles, hon. secretary to the above,, was advised yesterday that the Prime Minister, Sir J. G. Ward, had authorised the immediate payment of tho Government contribution of £300 to the committee's account at the. Post Office Savings Bank. The Premier has expressed his intention, after his return from England, tn visit Nelson and take part in theformal opening of the new church steps to 1)0 erected to tho memory of the late Hon. Colonel A. Pitt. In con-ncei-ion with the- steps, we are informed that plans are almost ready, and designs will be submitted by two local architects.
