NEWS OF THE DAY.
On pages 3 and 4 of this issue will be found a quantity of interesting reading matter, including the weekly budget of notes from our Wellington correspondent, article No. 18 on "Our Staple Industries," by Mr. R. J. Eames, reviews of books and publications received, an article on sweet pea culture (including the names of varieties approved by the National Sweet Pea Society), country news, bowling, cricket, and football notes, commercial and general news items.
A Now Plymouth telegram says that Mr. Malcolm. M.P., addressed a vory well attended public meeting in the Theatre Eoyal last night, under th© auspices of the Newf Plymouth branch of th© Navy League. Tho Mayor, who is president of the branch, presided, and Mr. H. Okey, M.P., was also on, the platform. Mr. Malcolm delivered a powerful address, having an excellent grip of his_ subject, and was most attentively listened to. The following resolution was carried: "That this meeting considers the time has corn© for federation of the British Empire under an Imperial Parliament."
