Montagu statrv.l that the oGvernme.nt of Bengal had •irrang"d with the "Times of India" to publish a weekly edition in vernacular, the Government subscribing for 25,000 copies,_ for the. purpose of counteracting anti-British propaganda. A similar scheme had been adopted isi Eastern Bengal.
